What You’ll Take From This Story
- Redesigned ServiceTitan workflows around the way departments actually work.
- Built a custom solution for repeatable pricebook updates.
- Improved data consistency and established a stronger foundation for automation.
A Better Platform, the Same Daily Friction
A new system is supposed to make work easier. At Arry’s Roofing, the transition from JobNimbus to ServiceTitan had become a source of frustration.
The company wanted clearer reporting, more useful financial information and better control of an increasingly complex operation. Instead, employees were dealing with inconsistent data, difficult crew coordination and workflows that added administrative work.
This was happening inside a business that had changed considerably. When JDL began supporting Arry’s roughly two decades earlier, the company had about six office employees and twenty field technicians. By October 2026, that had grown to approximately seventy office staff and more than two hundred field technicians.
The software had to serve that larger operation. Simply troubleshooting individual issues would leave the underlying process problems in place.
Start With the Work, Then Fix the Workflow.
JDL looked beyond the software settings. The team worked with leadership and departmental personnel to understand how estimates, jobs, schedules and operational information moved through the business.
That work exposed a practical problem: buying a more sophisticated platform had not automatically created consistent processes or dependable data. JDL focused on aligning ServiceTitan with the company’s actual operational requirements.
Make the technology work for the business.
Editorial summary of JDL’s approachThe scope expanded from software troubleshooting into business process engineering. Standard operating procedures, clearer job structures and more consistent information became part of the same effort.

Less Working Around the System.
Sales and Job Workflows
JDL redesigned how estimates, opportunities and jobs were tracked. Improved project structures and job phases helped make operational progress easier to follow.
Pricebook Automation
A custom solution streamlined pricebook updates, replacing repetitive manual steps with a more efficient, repeatable process.
More Consistent Data
JDL improved how information was captured and organized. Standardized workflows supported more consistent reporting and gave management a stronger basis for decisions.
The work connected the technical side of the platform with the responsibilities of the people using it. That mattered because the bottlenecks crossed departments. An isolated software fix could not address all of them.
A Platform the Team Could Work With.
JDL reports that workflows became more streamlined, information became more consistent and employees developed greater confidence in the system. Repetitive processes became more efficient, freeing people to spend more time on productive responsibilities.
The change also created a more useful starting point for future improvements. Cleaner data, standardized processes and a better system structure made Arry’s better positioned to add automation and evaluate AI applications.
Operational improvement comes before useful automation.
This project documents process redesign and custom pricebook automation. It does not establish a measured AI deployment result or a quantified savings figure.
For a contractor with a capable software stack and persistent administrative friction, that is the relevant lesson. The next purchase may be less important than making the systems already in place work together.
Where Is Your Team Doing the Same Work Twice?
JDL helps growing service businesses examine the connection between their tools, information and everyday work. For roofing, HVAC and electrical businesses, that conversation can begin with a specific bottleneck rather than a broad promise about AI.
Bring the task your people keep repeating, the report they cannot rely on or the system they have to work around. The first step is understanding the problem and deciding what a practical improvement would require.
